During the reception, Colonel Tran Van Lau informed the delegation of some outstanding results in Soc Trang province’s socio-economic development, in combination with reinforcement of defence and security, especially the ethnic minority and religious policies, in the first half of this year.

Accordingly, the province has carried out well policies on ethnic minorities and religion, especially in remote areas and Khmer ethnic minority-inhabited regions by boosting socio-economic development, reinforcing defence and security, supporting people’s livelihood, expanding sustainable poverty reduction models, giving land support to over 8,000 ethnic minority families, investing in infrastructure for extremely disadvantaged communes using over VND60 billion, thus raising people’s material and spiritual lives.

He confirmed that Soc Trang province always attaches great importance to developing the good neighboring, traditional and comprehensive cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Lieutenant General Yong Mao stressed that his visit was a chance to reinforce and increase the solidarity between the two countries, adding that Cambodia is grateful to the Vietnamese army in particular and Vietnamese people in general for helping his country escape from the genocidal regime, and wishing the cooperative relationship and solidarity between the two countries will be further reinforced./.
