Vietnamese youngsters do voluntary work in Laos

Over 100 young volunteers from Ho Chi Minh city on June 23rd started the summer voluntary activities in Laos, marking the 16th time the Vietnamese city Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union carrying out the campaign.

According to Le Hoang Minh, Head of the International Department under the Ho Chi Minh city Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the campaign will last until July 5th in the two Lao provinces of Champasak and Attapeu, providing practical services and more comfortable life in Lao villages.

Under the campaign, the volunteers will give free medical check-ups and medicine, and eye surgery to 5,000 local residents; exchange healthcare experience with local health workers; provide cultivation and breeding technologies as well as free seedlings and agricultural production tools for 500 residents; and present scholarships and educational tools to disadvantaged children.

Additionally, a computer room will be presented to Attapeau province; a small reading room presented to the Pakse Friendship School; 2 houses to local families; and playground devices to the Vietnam - Laos Friendship School./.
