German appoints new ambassadors to countries

New grand coalition government in Germany on April 19th appointed a number of new ambassadors to major global capitals.

Ms. Emily Haber is named as German ambassador to the US (Source: tagesspiegel.de)

Accordingly, Ms. Emily Haber, previously Secretary of State in the Interior Ministry, was named as the new and first female German ambassador to the United States in Washington DC.

Besides, her predecessor Peter Wittig will return to Europe to head the German embassy in London.

German ambassador to China, Mr. Michael Clauss will be transferred to Brussels where he will serve as Germany's ambassador to the European Union (EU).

German ambassador to Paris, France Meyer-Landrut remain in this position in the future.

On March 4th, the German Social Democrat Party members have voted for the grand coalition government in Berlin, continuing its current partnership with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats./.
