24 outstanding disabled women honoured in Ho Chi Minh city

The Ho Chi Minh city Women's Union organized the Disabled Women's Festival on April 18th.

As an activity to respond the Vietnam Day for Persons with Disabilities (April 18th), the festival drew the participation of over 170 disabled women, who have overcome difficulties to study and work in 24 districts.
The program aims to create opportunities for women with disabilities to share experiences in overcoming difficulties to stabilize their life and build a happy and sustainable family.
Speaking at the festival, Ms. Tran Thi Huyen Thanh, Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh city Women’s Union, said that over the past years, the women’s unions at all levels in the city have cooperated with authorities to propose mechanisms and policies to support women with disabilities to create conditions for them to study, improve their necessary knowledge and skills as well as learn a trade, being granted loans and created suitable jobs.
On this occasion, the organizers granted loans of VND170 million to 27 women with disabilities to improve their family economy and honoured 24 happy families./.
