Additional COVID-19 patient in Ho Chi Minh city recovers

Six COVID-19 patients being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, two in Thai Binh province and one in Ho Chi Minh city, were announced to be cured from the disease on June 8th.

Among the 6 treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, 5 returned from Russia and one was an overseas student returning from the US. 

According to doctor Tran Van Giang, Deputy Head of the Department of Virus - Parasite, the patients are in good health condition and tested negative for the coronavirus two successive times. 

“The department is treating 5 other patients, including three cases positive for the virus and three having tested negative at least one time,” said doctor Giang, adding that the remaining patients are recovering and can be announced to be cured in June.  

Two patients discharged from the Thai Binh provincial General Hospital tested negative for the virus three successive times and are now in good health condition. The British patient discharged from Ho Chi Minh city’s Cu Chi district field hospital also underwent a similar test. 

The 9 cured patients continue to be isolated and have health check-ups at hospital for the next 14 days.

Statistics from the Ministry of Health showed that 49 of 50 patients with foreign nationality have been cured.

As of June 8th, 316 of 331 COVID-19 patients reported in Vietnam have recovered. The remaining are being treated at 6 medical foundations./.
