Cooperation between Ho Chi Minh city and Malaysia promoted

At the reception, the Deputy Standing Chairman highly appreciated the cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia, especially in the field of economy. Malaysia is the 8th largest trade partner of Vietnam. In 2018, two-way trade revenue reached over USD11 billion. Malaysia now has 568 projects in Vietnam, which has 19 projects investing in the partner country.

The trade revenue between Ho Chi Minh City and Malaysia accounts for 50% of the total trade revenue of the two countries and more than 50% of Malaysia’s projects in Vietnam (246 projects) are in Ho Chi Minh City, with over USD4.6 billion, ranking at 4th position among 106 nations and territories investing in the city.

Mr. Liem said that Ho Chi Minh city desires to promote the cooperation with Malaysia, especially in priority fields such as trade and technology.

The Malaysian Minister Teresa Kok Su Sim appreciated the reception and said that in 2018, Vietnam is the 13th largest trade partner of Malaysia and the country encourages its businesses to promote trade and investment cooperation with Vietnam.

Sharing activities of the delegation of Malaysia’s Ministry of Primary Industries in Ho Chi Minh city, she believed that in the future, there will be many cooperation projects between Malaysia and Ho Chi Minh city, including the field of palm oil./.
