This is the information given at a meeting on implementing ethnic work in 2020 in Ho Chi Minh City on February 27th.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has 53 ethnic minorities with more than 468,000 people, accounting for 5.2% of the total population of the city, of which there are three major ethnic minorities of Hoa, Cham and Khmer, mainly living in districts of 3, 5, 6, 11, Tan Phu, Binh Thanh, Tan Binh and Thu Duc.

Before the unpredictable development and increasingly serious trend of the Covid-19 epidemic, the committees for ethnic minority affairs of districts provide information to each household; and go to each residential area to check whether any family members from the epidemic-hit areas have undergone monitoring.

In addition, District 3 and Tan Phu District also set up clubs and groups to communicate how to prevent the epidemic to ethnic minorities.

Tan Phu district delivers face masks and hand wash liquid for ethnic minorities and instructs them how to use them,” said Ms. Tran Thi Hong Cuc, Chief of the Office of the People’s Council and People’s Committee of Tan Phu district./.
