Free medical check-ups provided for 1,500 people

A delegation of doctors, nurses and lecturers from Ho Chi Minh city’s Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University on August 21st completed a social program in which they gave free medical check-ups and medicine to 500 patients who are Ba Na and Jo Rai ethnic minority people in Dak Po district, Gia Lai province.

According to Dr Le Van Minh, head of the delegation, the patients’ health was checked using high technology as the delegation brought modern machines, including heart ultrasound, odonto – stomatology and electrocardiogram machines, as well as equipment to test for cancer and blood sugar levels.

During the program, the delegation worked with sponsors to present 500 gifts to poor families and pupils with excellent academic results.

Earlier, a delegation of doctors, nurses and volunteers from the 108 Military Central Hospital and the Trung Tu secondary school in Hanoi reached flood affected areas in Ban Lang commune, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province. At the Ban Lang primary and secondary School, with 100% of its pupils being Dao ethnic minority, the delegation supported teachers and pupils with essential commodities and school supplies.

Dr Ngo Tuan Anh, head of the delegation, said that a humanitarian medical program was also held during the trip. Accordingly, heart, otorhinolaryngology, odonto – stomatology and blood check-ups were provided free of charge for some 1,000 pupils./.
