HCMC welcomes over 6.2 million foreigners from start of year

The number of foreign tourists to Ho Chi Minh city reached more than 6.2 million from the January-September period, a 14.3% rise from the same period last year, according to the city Department of Tourism.

Total tourism turnover in the nine months was estimated at VND108.3 trillion, a 74% increase year on year and 72.2% of the year’s plan.
The city tourism industry is strongly applying information technology in operating, managing, searching and processing documents. At the same time, online public services are being operated to handle administrative procedures in the field.
The department also boosts tourism promotion activities by diversifying the organization of programs and events to attract more tourists to the southern hub.
Last year, Ho Chi Minh city welcomed more than 7 million foreign tourists. This year, the city strives to welcome 8-8.5 million foreign travelers./.
