Ho Chi Minh City focuses on developing digital economy

A conference was held by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on July 22nd to announce the digital transformation program and integrated system and data sharing of the city.

According to the program, by 2025, at least 50% of dossiers in Ho Chi Minh City will be settled by online public services at levels 3 and 4; with 90% or above of people and businesses satisfied with the administrative procedures settlement. Information of people and businesses are digitized and achieved at the Data Center of the city.

By 2025, the digital economy will account for 25% of the GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product), the annual labour productivity will increase at least 7%. The rate of people and businesses with electronic payment accounts is over 60%. Broadband infrastructure covers over 95% of households, universalizing 4G/5G mobile network services and smart mobile phones.

Basic targets by 2030 are that 100% of online public services at level 4 in Ho Chi Minh City will be provided on a variety of means of access, including mobile devices; and a complete smart city database will be formed to serve the development of digital government, digital economy and digital society.

By 2030, the digital economy will account for 40% of GRDP, the annual labour productivity will increase at least 9%. The percentage of people and businesses with electronic payment accounts will be over 85%. Also by 2030, Ho Chi Minh City will become a smart city.

In order to achieve the above goals, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc said that the city has proposed many solutions, including renovating the thinking and unifying the awareness of digital transformation for officials, civil servants, people and businesses; as well as developing digital infrastructure, including telecommunications - information technology infrastructure, internet of things and data infrastructure.

According to Mr. Duong Anh Duc, a number of fields will be given priority for digital transformation, such as: health, education, transportation, finance - banking, tourism, agriculture, logistics, environment, energy and human resource training.

The digital transformation program of Ho Chi Minh City is built based on the national digital transformation program, as well as the project building Ho Chi Minh City into a smart city in the 2017-2020 period, with a vision to 2025, and the project on electronic government architecture./.
