At the dialogue, many problems in implementing policies and regulations relating to the elderly were raised. Representatives of districts also proposed that the Department of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs guide communal and town people’s committees to timely confirm and clearly specify conditions that the elderly enjoy regular allowance, as well as regimes under Decree 06 by the government and circulars of ministries, sectors and the city.

The representatives of the elderly of districts also proposed that the Department of Health, hospitals and health centres establish initial health management books for the elderly, who are from 60 years and above.

In addition, ward and communal health stations should grant medicines when the elderly are examined there, as well as increase investment budget and support for doctors to do examinations for the elderly at home.

Many representatives of the elderly said that the current rate of examinations at home for the elderly, who have difficulty travelling, is insufficient, and the rate of the elderly receiving well managed health care varies widely between localities./.
