Ho Chi Minh city mobilizes over VND450 billion to care for poor

According to Vice President of the city’s Fatherland Front Nguyen Thanh Trung, the city’s rescue fund has also received over VND120 billion to help natural disaster-affected people; the fund for sea and islands has mobilized over VND100 billion and spent over VND90 billion caring for cadres, soldiers and people on the Spratly Islands, DK1 frame-house and the navy force zone 5.

He added that the city Fatherland Front had paid attention to social feedback to inspect areas relating to people’s rights and interests, contributing to addressing people’s proposals, and protecting people’s legitimate rights and interests.

During the meeting, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Huynh Cach Mang reported on the city’s socio-economic situation in 2017, as well as tasks and solutions for 2018. Accordingly, this year, the city has set 20 main goals, including five in economics, 10 in society, four in environmental protection and one in administrative reform.

Addressing the meeting, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man suggested that the city Fatherland Front should increase scientific and technological application in mastering people’s aspirations with the Party and authority; hold dialogues with people about emerging issues; expand inspection over new issues of people’s concern; and ensure food safety.

Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary of the city Party Committee Vo Thi Dung asked the city Fatherland Front to continue to increase the studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style in connection with the implementation of the 4^th Party Central Committee (term XII) meeting resolution on Party building and rectification; draw experience in its work, inspection and social feedback; and adequately receive ideas from the people./.
