Ho Chi Minh city to pilot three tramcar routes to serve visitors

The Ho Chi Minh city People's Committee has allowed a business to pilot a project to transport tourists by tramcar in the city center for three years.

The tramcar route will pass destinations such as Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, city Post Office, Independence Palace, Ben Thanh market, History Museum, War Remnants Museum, Labor Cultural Palace, Tao Dan park, Binh Tay market, Thien Hau Pagoda and An Dong market.

Stations to pick up visitors are at Saigon Sofitel Plaza Hotel at No.17 Le Duan street, New World Hotel at No.76 Le Lai street, Sheraton Hotel at No.88 Dong Khoi street, Victory Hotel at No.14 Vo Van Tan street, Ocean Palace restaurant at No.2 Le Duan street.

Vehicles are 20 four-wheelers, run by electric, with eight to 14 seats each. The trial operation time is from 08h00 to 16h00 and from 19h00 to 23h00 daily.

Earlier this year, three bus routes in central Ho Chi Minh city and Phu My Hung area in District 7 were launched to help people have more options and reduce traffic congestion./.
