He made the statement while receiving newly-appointed Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Hojlund Christensen on December 18th.

According to Mr. Phong, over the past 5 years, the Vietnam – Denmark relationship has changed from traditional development aid to comprehensive partnership, reporting diverse encouraging results, especially the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) to be signed and adopted in the future, which promises to facilitate strong development in the two countries’ trade and investment relations. “Of which, Vietnam can learn from Denmark’s experience in urban planning and architecture,” he said.

Vietnam and Denmark are also developing relationships at local levels in traffic, energy and green growth cooperation. Appreciating Denmark’s experience in green growth and sustainable development, Mr. Phong said he hoped that Denmark will continue to support Ho Chi Minh city in managing risks caused by urban flooding. “Ho Chi Minh city is willing to work with the Danish Embassy in Vietnam to deepen the Vietnam – Denmark comprehensive partnership, looking forward to marking the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship in 2021,” he added.

Asserting that the Vietnam - Denmark relationship is developing well in all areas, Ambassador Kim Hojlund Christensen said that more and more Danish businesses want to invest in Vietnam.

He expressed his hope that Ho Chi Minh city will create favourable conditions for businesses to invest in the development of agricultural product chains, food safety, urban traffic and prevention of urban flooding.

He also pledged to heighten the two-way trade turnover./.
