Tourism startup contest launched in Ho Chi Minh city

The Departments of Tourism, and Science and Technology in Southern hub Ho Chi Minh city has launched a startup contest in order to choose creative technological solutions for its tourism industry.

The contest consists of four rounds which will occur from April to October 2018. Five projects will be awarded the first prize with a total fund of VND2 billion. Projects which come to the final round will be linked to a network of international investors, consultants, and partners.

Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu, Director of the Department of Tourism, stressed attractive tourism products should be made by innovation during the process of shaping and providing services.

The launch of the contest offers opportunities for the tourism industry to receive creative ideas and leading travel businesses to create new tourism products in the near future.  

On this occasion, the two units inked a Memorandum of Understanding to develop an eco-tourism startup system, focusing on mobilizing enterprises, institutes and investment funds to gather and set up a mentor team, and organizing events to connect the market, investors, experts with the community of businesses to invest in startup projects in tourism./.
