The southern province of Ca Mau has bought 47 lots of land covering a total area of over 879,300 square metres with a capital of some VND31 billion to give to local Khmer ethnic minority people, helping them stabilise their lives, the provincial Ethnic Minorities Board has reported.

As of mid-June, the province has allocated 343,000 square metres to 146 poor Khmer ethnic minority families. Each was provided with cultivated land, residential land, or both cultivated and residential land. The rest of the land area is being handed over to poor ethnic minority households for residence and cultivation.

The activity aims to realise the policy on assignment of residential and cultivated land for poor ethnic minority people in Ca Mau province. Under the policy, each family is provided with 2,500-4,000 square metres for building houses and cultivation, in an attempt to stabilise their lives./.
