Accordingly, the project will be carried out across 194 villages which are home to very small ethnic minority groups in 93 communes of 37 districts of Cao Bang, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Kon Tum provinces.

The project will complete the infrastructure in villages; support production development; support the preservation and promotion of unique traditional cultural value, increasing ethnic minority groups’ spiritual lives; train and use cadres, and build up the grassroots political system; and realize the current policies on educational and medical support for small ethnic minority groups.

Besides, it aims to maintain, develop and increase the position of very small ethnic minority groups; boost poverty reduction, and increase their spiritual and material lives sustainably to gradually narrow the development gap compared with other groups in the regions; construct essential infrastructure in very small ethnic minority villages, contributing to building and constructing the nation, and reinforcing national unity.

Under the project, poverty among these groups is expected to be reduced by 7-8% annually. By 2025, the average living standard will be equivalent to that in other groups and every small ethnic minority group will have members in the grassroots political system.

The project also targets building smooth roads and bridges, and helping 100% of families gain access to production support./.
