Great figures passing away in 2016 commemorated

The death of outstanding figures who have contributed to the progress of mankind has left much grief for people worldwide.

Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, a towering figure of the 20th century, died in Havana
on November 25th at the age of 90.

Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej died at 15h52 on October 13th (local time) at the age of 88.
He was the world’s longest-reigning living monarch.

Former UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali passed away at 93.
 He was the 6th Secretary-General of the organisation.

Former Israeli President and Nobel Peace Prize winner in 1994, Mr. Shimon Peres
died at the age of 93.

Harper Lee, whose first novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” about racial injustice in a small
Alabama town, sold more than 40 million copies and became one of the most beloved
and most taught works of fiction ever written by an American, died in Monroeville, Ala.,
 where she lived at the age of 89.

Leonard Norman Cohen, the hugely influential singer and songwriter whose work
spanned nearly 50 years, died at the age of 82.

Elie Wiesel was a Romanian-born American Jewish writer, professor, political activist,
Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor. The author of 57 books, written mostly
 in French and English, he died at the age of 87.

John Glenn, an American aviator, engineer, astronaut, and US Senator from Ohio,
died at the age of 95.

Prince Rogers Nelson was an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist,
and record producer. He is considered the pioneer of the “Minneapolis sound” style.

Boxing legend Muhammad Ali, one of the world's greatest sporting figures,
died at the age of 74.

Bill Cunningham, an American fashion photographer for The New York Times
known for his candid and street photography, died at the age of 87.
