Morocco and Vietnam enjoy historic and excellent bilateral relations

(CPV) – “Morocco and Vietnam have enjoyed historic and excellent bilateral relations ever since the establishment of diplomatic relations on March 27th 1961. This annual celebration of the enthronement of His Majesty King Mohammed VI is an occasion to cherish the cordial bonds between the two countries.”

Vietnam-Morocco bilateral relation has reached a high level of political maturity

Ambassador Jamale Chouaibi said this at the ceremony of the 20th Anniversary of the Enthronement of His Majesty Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, in Hanoi on July 30th 2019.

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Hanoi invited Ms. Nguyen Thuy Anh,  member of the  12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Chairwoman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Social Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

This year was exceptionally rich and dense in term of cooperation actions and activities between Morocco and Vietnam. The inauguration ceremony of the restoration of the “Gate of Morocco”, in “Ba Vi” region, was held on 10th November, 2018. The restoration of this historic monument, unique in Asia, reflects the profound traditional friendship and embodies the historical relations between Morocco and Vietnam.

Morocco, which is the first African and Arab country to join the Mekong River Commission (MRC) as a Partner on June 29th 2017, has participated in the 25th Meeting of the Mekong River Commission Council and the 23rd meeting of development partners consultative group in the beautiful and peaceful city of Ha Long on November 28th 2018, to contribute to MRC member state’s innovative regional integration and collaborative approach for the sustainable management of the Mekong Basin.

According to  the Ambassador  Jamale Chouaibi, this year was also marked by the exchange of high level visits between the two countries, especially the very successful visit of the President of the Vietnamese National Assembly Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to Morocco from March 27th to March 30th 2019, during which several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on environmental, trade and industrial co-operation were signed.

Moreover, the Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education H.E. Mr. Vo Van Thuong led a CPV delegation to visit Morocco from June 13th to June 17th 2019, reflecting the willingness of Vietnam to bring the bilateral economic cooperation to the level of the excellent cultural and political ties.

Ambassador Jamale Chouaibi affirmed: “Morocco’s openness with South-East Asian countries, mainly Vietnam, continues to frame its cooperation with ASEAN States, especially following the accession of Morocco, in 2016, to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation of ASEAN (TAC), paving the way for further commitments in the near future, and a reinforced cooperation with this regional organization especially during the chairmanship of Vietnam in 2020.

The  cooperation between Morocco and Vietnam, has reached a high level of political maturity, encompassing a rich and shared historical heritage, reflected in common values that lay the unwavering foundations for a prosperous future of cooperation between the two countries, that bypasses geographical and cultural barriers”./.
