Vietnam wins volleyball gold cup in Army Games 2020

Although the official opening ceremony of the International Army Games 2020 was not held, the Vietnam People's Army delegation has won the first gold cup after the engineering team gained a convincing 2-0 victory in the final match of the non-professional volleyball competition against the Uzbekistan team.

This is the first sideline activity of the "Safe Route" contest under the framework of Army Games 2020, taking place in the city of Kstovo, Russia, arousing the participation of the 4 teams of Russia, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Vietnam.

Main attacker Nguyen Van Hien, who scored most for the Vietnam team, shared that the success was brought about by the solidarity of the whole team, the efforts of each individual, and the cheering of the audience.

At the end of the competition, the opposing teams had a lot of praise for the Vietnam team, and highly appreciated the spirit of solidarity, as well as the methodical competition.

According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Pham Tuan Luc, leader of the Vietnam team, the team well prepared for the event, including practicing in volleyball, weightlifting and table tennis. “The thorough preparation helped the team gain the first gold medal for the Vietnamese delegation,” he said.

The organizing committee said that the volleyball prize will be awarded at the closing ceremony of Army Games 2020, which takes place on September 5, along with other important prizes./.
