The new flyover, which will be 5.1 kilometers long and 19 meters wide, includes one main bridge and three other bridges connecting Vinh Tuy, Nga Tu Vong and Nga Tu So interchanges.
It is invested by Vingroup under the build-transfer (BT) model and will pass over four districts of Hoang Mai, Hai Ba Trung, Thanh Xuan and Dong Da.
After being expanded by a 3.1 kilometer section from Vinh Tuy to Nga Tu Vong, Belt Road No.2 will have 8 lanes, including 6 for motor vehicles and 2 for rudimentary vehicles.
The project of building the flyover and expanding Belt Road No.2 requires a total investment of over VND9.4 trillion (USD412.1 million), including over VND4.1 trillion (USD179.7 million) for premise clearance.
The project is expected to be completed in 2020.
Once operational, the flyover and expanded section will help streamline and increase the flow of vehicles from the West to the South and East of the city, contributing to perfecting the transport network of the Belt Road and creating conditions for economic development and traffic jam reduction in the region./.
