(CPV) - The APEC Voices of the Future (VOF) forum is taking place in the central city of Da Nang and Quang Nam province, focusing on four topics: the contributions of the youth to APEC vision beyond 2020 and the future; economic, financial and social integration; human resources development in the digital age, and policies to support start-up, renovation and small and medium-sized enterprises.

On the sidelines of this 2017’s event, CPV reporter collected some ideas from local and international representatives.

* Kasumi Fujita from Japan said that at the current time, a lot of Japanese youth are dreaming and realizing their dream of becoming business people or running their own company. In the next 10 years, the strong flow of start-up among youth will be the future of APEC. With regard to the role of VOF 2017, we come from different languages and nationalities, but young generation can freely and confidently share lessons and experiences from other member economies, thus laying a solid foundation for upcoming start-ups.

* Talking about challenges in the very first step of a start-up business, Mr Kasyanenko Vladislav Olegovich from the Federation of Russia considered that the problem of opening start up now is in high competition.

More chances should be given to everybody, as well as more start-up forums established, because now there are only few really good forums. We need more to support more people.

* Host female student Dang Thi Thanh Thuong, from Faculty of Economics and Development Studies, Hue College of Economics under Hue University, expressed that there is a big gap in supporting policies amongst APEC members, depending on the direction of their economies. Vietnam now has “a big hole” in the progress of running and managing SMEs. So it is necessary for the nation to create more momentum for business to deliver long-term sustainable development.

* According to Mr Faitz Aqira Bin Nordin, Malaysia is developing types of business start-ups for youth. Delegates found that they easily made friends with others. Opportunities and chances to broaden and make the economy more progressive are open for business development, then leading to widening future potential.

* While a US representative, Mr Liam Harrison Simkins-Walker, said that the US side hoped this event would enhance the mutual understanding between delegations and member economies as well. We have acknowledged APEC is a diversified and distinctive bloc, so that here in Da Nang, participants have the chance to strongly discuss and agree on mutual concerns, for bettering their benefits.

There are now still controversial matters; however we can see and feel the role, contribution and efforts from each member. Potential cooperation is huge, the most important thing is the harmonization of benefits between participating delegations, for a united world./.
