Overseas Vietnamese teachers and students in Thailand visit Uncle Ho’s hometown

A delegation of overseas Vietnamese teachers and students of Nakhon Phanom province, Thailand visited the hometown of Uncle Ho in Nam Dan district, Nghe An province on May 4th.

At the Kim Lien site, overseas Vietnamese teachers and students offered incense and flowers at Uncle Ho’s altar. Everyone was moved and proud of Uncle Ho, and the country of Vietnam, which gave birth to a genius and great leader.

Listening to stories told by their tour guide at the Kim Lien site about Uncle Ho, his life and relatives, members of the overseas Vietnamese delegation expressed their grief for Uncle, remembered Uncle Ho's great contributions to our country.

“My parents are native to Vietnam, so I am often told about beloved Uncle Ho of Vietnam. I'm very proud to visit Uncle Ho’s hometown for the second time. The pride of Uncle Ho, the homeland of Vietnam, will be the motivation for me to better study to become a useful citizen for the country,” shared Yanin Phanom Uppatham, a 5th grade student.

“I have read a lot of books about Uncle Ho and understood the life and person of Uncle Ho. Today I have the chance to visit Uncle’s simple thatched cottage, I was very moved. Uncle is really a shining example for today's young generation to study and follow,” said student Poawitchaya Poiwan.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Som, a member of the Executive Board of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Thailand’s Nakhon Phanom province, said that with the help of the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, overseas Vietnamese teachers and students from Nakhon Phanom province have an opportunity to visit Uncle Ho’s hometown.

This is one of the meaningful trips of returning to ones roots to help overseas Vietnamese teachers and students in the province of Nakhon Phanom have the opportunity to exchange and learn about the history, culture and tradition of the people of Vietnam; thereby strengthening the relationship between expatriates and the motherland, the country as well as strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries of Vietnam and Thailand.

The delegation has 39 members, including 26 students aged 10-12. They are teachers and students of the Nakhon Phanom-Hanoi Friendship Center./.
