The special flight was arranged by relevant Vietnamese agencies, the Vietnamese Embassy in Angola and concurrently accredited to Equatorial Guinea, and Vietnam Airlines and counterparts in Equatorial Guinea.

The move came after information was received that many Vietnamese citizens Equatorial Guinea have tested positive for COVID-19.

A special working group of four medical workers joined the flight crew to the African nation to ensure health and safety as well as to minimize cross-infections.

Disease preventive measures were conducted strictly during the flight.

Due to travel restrictions in Africa, the Vietnamese Embassy in Angola worked closely with relevant agencies of Equatorial Guinea and employment companies to help Vietnamese citizens complete the necessary procedures before boarding.

All passengers and crew members on the flight were quarantined and taken to the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh district, Hanoi, for treatment right after the flight landed at Noi Bai International Airport.

Under the Prime Minister’s direction, more Vietnamese citizens abroad will be brought home, depending on the citizens’ need and the country’s quarantine capacity./.
