Speaking at the event after the flag ceremony, Mr. Duong Dinh Tuy, Chairman of the Vietnamese War Veterans Association in the Czech Republic, highlighted the historical significance of the establishment of the Vietnamese Armed Propaganda Team - a precursor organization of today’s Vietnam People's Army and the glorious achievements of our army in the cause of construction and protection of the nation, especially the struggle against imperialism in the 20th century.

He emphasized that the Vietnamese war veterans in the Czech Republic today actively promote the virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in doing business, educating their descendants and community activities. In addition, they always look towards the homeland through charitable activities to help war invalids, parents, children of soldiers, who sacrificed or participated in the fight protecting the sovereignty over the sea and islands of the country.

At the ceremony, Mr. Cao Hung Trang, Defense Attaché of the Vietnamese Embassy and Mr. Nguyen Duy Nhien, Head of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic, recognized the outstanding contributions of the Vietnamese War Veterans Association over the past time, and expected that the association would continue to be a pioneer example in community movements.

In addition, the participants also enjoyed a special art program.

Established four years ago, the Vietnamese War Veterans Association in the Czech Republic now has seven branches with more than 500 members across the Czech Republic. Every year, the association organizes trips to Vietnam for its members to visit old battle-fields, and visit and present gifts to policy beneficiaries on War Invalids' and Martyrs' Day (July 27th).

The association intends to open more branches and add more new members, creating a playground for exchanges to help strengthen solidarity and contribute actively to movements of the community./.
