The Ambassador reviewed the country's development situation in recent years, the relationship between Vietnam and Mali, and the policies of the Party and State for the overseas Vietnamese community.

He also paid a compliment to the overseas Vietnamese, especially in light of difficulties and obstacles they face in their lives as well as their desires, which they want to send to the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam.

Most Vietnamese people in Mali are small traders, restaurant owners and employees. The economic conditions of majority of them are still poor.

The families live scattered in many places, making it difficult to gather and they have thus not formed a community of overseas Vietnamese, so it is hard for them to help each other in work as well as in life.

The Vietnamese Embassy also encountered many difficulties in catching specific situations and carrying out activities to protect citizens and support the Vietnamese community in Mali.

At this meeting, the overseas Vietnamese raised their aspirations to the State, including the consideration of appointing an on-site representative or assigning more frequent missions to Mali to help the overseas Vietnamese community there quickly resolve problems and difficulties.

During the meeting, Ambassador Tru and his delegation answered many questions and inquiries of the overseas Vietnamese in various fields, as well as noted their ideas and suggestions to report to the government.

On this occasion, the delegation also spent time directly addressing requirements of personal papers of overseas Vietnamese there. There are about 300 Vietnamese people living and working in Mali./.
