ASEAN Committee in Mexico organizes bazaar to promote culture

The ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC), including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, recently hosted a bazaar to promote the culture of the member countries of the bloc in Mexico.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Indonesian Ambassador to Mexico Cheppy Tri Prakoso Wartono, who is  rotating President  of the ACMC, highlighted the significance of the event, saying that it aims to further enhance solidarity within the bloc and promote the  images, countries and people of the member countries in Mexico.

He hoped that through stalls at the bazaar, Mexican people will understand more about the cultures and people of the ASEAN community, thus promoting solidarity and friendship among nations.

The Indonesian Ambassador affirmed the importance of boosting multi-faceted relations, especially economic, trade, investment and cultural relations with Mexico, contributing to improve the image and prestige of ASEAN.

At the bazaar, delegates and local people had an opportunity to enjoy traditional costumes, dances and dishes of the ASEAN member countries.

According to the organizers, all proceeds collected from the bazaar will be presented to a charity centre in Mexico City./.
