Book “Vietnamese literature” in Ukrainian language introduced

In the book, President Ho Chi Minh’s Declaration of Independence was translated into Ukrainian language by young translators from the department of Vietnamese language, Institute of Philology, under the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. This is the first book of Vietnamese literature works translated into Ukrainian language.              

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Anh Tuan emphasized that the publication of the book has great significance in culture, economy and politics. It is a door to open the diverse world of Vietnamese language and soul of the Vietnamese people, the history of building and defending the country and the thousand-year customs and practices of the Vietnamese nation.

On this occasion, the ambassador also thanked the leaders and lecturers of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, especially lecturers and young translators from the department of Vietnamese language, Institute of Philology. They are contributing to fostering the traditional relations between Ukraine and Vietnam.

Professor Bekh Petro, Director of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, showed his pleasure at the publication of the book and considered it an important step to promote cultural cooperation between the two countries.

To strengthen his students’ understanding about the history and literature of Vietnam, he suggested the ambassador propose that the government of Vietnam build a statue of a Vietnamese poet or writer in the botanical garden of the university.

Assoc. Prof. Hoang Tuan Vu and Ms. Victoria Musiychuk, lecturers of the subject of Vietnamese language, Institute of Philology, spent much time and dedication to revise the translation, as well as generalize the process of translation of the book into Ukrainian language./.
