The congress is expected to bring fresh air into the cultural and art life of the community, enhancing the spiritual and cultural life of the overseas people as well as promoting the image of Vietnam in the Czech Republic.

Over many past years, the cultural and art life of the community have become more diversified and vibrant with the introduction of traditional arts such as “Xoan”, “Quan ho” and “Vi Giam” singing, monochord and flute playing, and modern art forms such as dancing.

Many dance groups or art clubs of fellow-countrymen associations have been established, gathering professional and amateur artists to serve events of the community.

Thanks to the development of various art forms, the Czech Republic is confidently chosen as the venue for many cultural and art events, such as the Miss Vietnam in Europe in 2009, Vietnamese Talent Contest in Europe in 2011, Sao Mai Singing Contest in the Czech Republic and neighboring countries in 2013, and Sao Mai Singing Contest in Europe in 2015. The capital city of Prague was also selected to host the Laughing Gala 2012 and 2016.

"The Vietnamese Culture and Art Association in the Czech Republic wants to strengthen, innovate and reorient its role in the community, change some things in its charter. In addition, we also change the direction, as well as the structure of members of the Executive Board. We hope this innovation will bring a new face to the association, improving the quality of art, creating a playground for the community,” said Mr. Pham Gia Hau, new-elected President of the association.

Under the reform model, the Executive Board of the association will be expanded to 25 members, including leaders of women's clubs, art clubs in provinces of the Czech Republic or fellow-countrymen associations.

Members must be responsible for the preservation and promotion of Vietnam’s culture and arts, serving the interests of the nation and community living in the Czech Republic.

Founded in 2008, the Vietnamese Cultural and Art Association in the Czech Republic has always joined hands with units organizing events of the community. However, the strong development of art forms over the past time requires the right management, coordination and direction to best promote the effectiveness of these activities. That is one of the main reasons the congress is organized in the mid-term./.
