Czech-Vietnamese Cultural Festival held in Czech Republic

A Czech-Vietnamese cultural and cuisine festival, with the participation of hundreds of local people and the Vietnamese community, was held in Jesenice town, Central Czech, on May 21st.

The festival aimed to create opportunities for Czech and Vietnamese people to exchange culture and cohere in the community.

Head of the cultural department under the Jesenice Town Council Alexandra Kochova said that this activity aimed to introduce Vietnamese culture to local people and help the Vietnamese community in Jesenice town and Vestec village understand more about the culture of the Czech people.

The introduction of Vietnamese culture attracted the attention and interest of the Czech audience, with many special items such as the procession of Buddha and introduction to the history of Buddhism in Vietnam, lotus dance, “Quan ho” singing, "Chau van" singing, a photo exhibition on Vietnam today, and cultural and charity activities of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.

A diverse range of Vietnamese dishes were introduced during the festival.

The musical performances of Jesenice town and Vestec village were professional, with a variety of folk dance and music.

Ms. Dieu Linh, a member of the Executive Board of the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic, and Head of the organizing board of the festival, said that similar events will continue to be organized in the future to enhance cohesion in the community.

Jesenice town has nearly 9,000 people and Vestec village has 2,200 people, more than 30km from the capital city of Prague. These places have about 100 Vietnamese families living, studying and doing business./.
