Enhancing cooperation between localities of Vietnam and Mongolia

In order to promote cooperation between Vietnam’s Quang Binh and Nghe An provinces and Mongolia’s South Gobi province, a delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia led by Ambassador Doan Thi Huong recently paid a working visit to South Gobi province.

At the working session, Deputy Head of South Gobi province Batbold Khoroo briefed participants on the socio-economic situation of his province. He said that the province is one of largest provinces of Mongolia. It is located over 600km from Ulan Bator with population of over 65,000. South Gobi province has strength in cattle breeding, tourism and mine exploitation. In 2017, the province was ranked first in Mongolia for socio-economic development and contribution to the nation’s budget.

Mr. Batbold Khoroo shared that during the visit to Quang Binh and Nghe An by the leaders of South Gobi province in February, leaders of three provinces agreed on the cooperation policy in the fields of tourism, overseas student training, cattle product process, mine exploitation and agricultural export and import of each other.

The leaders of South Gobi province proposed that the Vietnamese Embassy should exchange with leaders of Quang Binh and Nghe An provinces to promote cooperation activities for immediate implementation.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia Doan Thi Huong welcomed the leaders of South Gobi province for connecting with Vietnam’s provinces and added that their visit to Nghe An and Quang Binh province is a favourable foundation for cooperation with other localities of Vietnam.

During the working visit, Ambassador Huong emphasized that Quang Binh, Nghe An and South Gobi provinces all have potential and strength in tourism and agricultural products, that are advantages for the sides to promote cooperation on tourism, investment and agricultural product import and export exchange.

In the framework of the working visit, the delegation of the embassy visited and presented gifts to Pedagogical Experiential School No.5, visited and surveyed tourism sites, cultural works and husbandry facilities of South Gobi province./.
