During the event, children aged 9-14 participated in exchanges and learned more about the culture, national identity, and language of Vietnam, and improving their independent and cohesive spirit.

“Summer camp is a very popular extra-curricular form of education. This is the first time the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Odessa has organized a summer camp for children without their parents accompanying them. Under the form, they are completely self-reliant,” said Ms. Huynh Thi Lan Anh, Head of the organizing board of the summer camp, member of the Executive Board of the Overseas Vietnamese Association and Head of the Committee of Youth and Adolescents in Odessa.

Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tri highly appreciated the efforts of the organizing board. He believed the event was a useful playground helping Vietnamese children and adolescents train themselves, as well as improve their Vietnamese language ability.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine also presented them a set of Vietnamese book compiled under the latest program, which is suitable for overseas Vietnamese children to study Vietnamese language.

During the camp, the participants enjoyed various folk and collective games.

“This is also a good opportunity for me to practice and develop my skills. Particularly, I felt Vietnamese atmosphere and breath in Ukraine,” shared Quynh Mai, a third-year student, who is also a volunteer of the summer camp./.
