First ASEAN Sports Festival held in Netherlands

The first ASEAN Sports Festival was launched by ASEAN Embassies in the Netherlands at the University of Amsterdam in Amsterdam city, the Netherlands, on July 1st.

The event was hosted by the Vietnamese Student Association in the Netherlands and the Student Association of ASEAN countries in the Netherlands, under the auspices of the ASEAN Embassies, including the Vietnamese Embassy.

The festival attracted the participation of hundreds of students from Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Ngo Thi Hoa emphasized that this was a practical activity to mark the 50th anniversary of ASEAN, helping to strengthen intra-ASEAN cohesion, promoting people exchange and student exchange among ASEAN countries.

She appreciated the Vietnamese Student Association in the Netherlands for organizing a sporting event which brought together a large number of ASEAN students from all over the Netherlands.

On behalf of the ASEAN Embassies, Ambassador Ngo Thi Hoa and the Malaysian and Indonesian Ambassadors gave flowers to the participating teams and encouraged them to compete well in the registered categories.

The first ASEAN Sports Festival consisted of four main categories: mini football, badminton, running and mixed games.

During the festival, the participants and athletes also enjoyed Vietnamese cuisine at Vietnamese food stalls on the campus of the University of Amsterdam./.
