First Vietnamese person to be admitted to France’s Academy of Overseas Sciences

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien, Vice Rector of the University of Economics and Law under Vietnam National University -VNU Ho Chi Minh city, will be officially admitted to France Academy of Overseas Sciences on November 17th.

He is the first Vietnamese person to become an official member of the Academy.

Previously, Mr. Dien has been presented the National Order of the Legion of Honour, the highest order of France, and knight-hood for his contributions to developing Vietnam-French relations. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Francophone University Agency and the President of the Francophone University Association in the Asia Pacific region.

The Academy of Overseas Sciences  (Académie des Sciences d'Outre-Mer) was established in 1922, and now has 41 official members. Many of them are former politicians of Senegal, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Brazil./.
