Hoban Scholarship Fund provides KRW30 million to support overseas Vietnamese in RoK

The Embassy of Vietnam, the Overseas Vietnamese Association in South Korea and representatives of Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Hoban Scholarship Fund signed a Memorandum to support the activities of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in RoK on May 27.

The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Embassy of Vietnam in Seoul. The Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Huu Chi, Chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese Association Tran Hai Linh and General Director of Hoban Construction Company cum Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoban Scholarship Fund, Mr. Lee Sang Yeol, attended.

Under the MOU, the Hoban Scholarship Fund will donate KRW30 million for 1 year (from June 1, 2014 to May 30, 2015) to support the Overseas Vietnamese Association in RoK to organize activities and educate Korean - Vietnamese multicultural families.

Activities will include educational and training activities for Vietnamese brides to adapt to life in RoK and teaching of the Vietnamese language to children of Korean - Vietnamese multicultural families.

The amount is also used to support the Overseas Vietnamese Association to organize activities to promote Korea - Vietnam friendly relations and to support Korean - Vietnamese multicultural families in difficulty. This is the first time the Hoban Scholarship Fund has provided support to the Overseas Vietnamese Association in RoK.

On this occasion, representatives of the Hoban Scholarship Fund also awarded five scholarships (each worth KRW2 million) to five excellent Vietnamese students studying in institutes and universities in RoK in the 2014-2015 school year./.
