Khmer – Vietnam Association debuts in Cambodia

The Khmer – Vietnam in Cambodia recently organized a ceremony to mark the 73rd anniversary of the National Day (September 2nd), 30 years of establishment of the association and announced the new name of the association in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Chau Van Chi, Chairman of the Khmer-Vietnam Association in Cambodia, said that the Khmer-Vietnam Association in Cambodia, former Association of Khmer Vietnamese in the Kingdom of Cambodia, has been officially registered its operation in the list of associations in Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior. 

As a new legal entity, the Khmer-Vietnamese Association in Cambodia has better conditions to carry out community-based activities and a focal point to concentrate resources to support and help compatriots in difficult circumstance.

Mr. Chau Van Chi stressed that association is a mass organization representing the Khmers of Vietnamese origin and Vietnamese people living and working legally in Cambodia. The association strengthens the solidarity, communicate and respect Khmer customs and comply with the laws of the Kingdom of Cambodia, contributing to building Cambodia more prosperous as well as tightening solidarity and friendship between Khmer people and Vietnamese people.

Over the ups and downs historical periods of Cambodia, the Vietnamese community has integrated into and contributed immensely to the construction and development of the country.

At the event, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia Men Sam An emphasized that Vietnam – Cambodia are always close friends and good neighbours. The two countries have come to new page of history with peace, independence, democracy and glory.

"The Cambodian government and people will always remember the great contribution of the Party, the State, the army and the people of Vietnam for having sacrificed the bone and blood to help Cambodia escape the genocide regime, contributing to the construction and development of Cambodia," Ms. Men Sam An said.

With the strength and solid legal status, the Khmer-Vietnamese Association in Cambodia will have more practical contribution to the development of Cambodia as well as the solidarity between the Vietnam and Cambodia./.
