Lunar New Year Festival for overseas Vietnamese in Singapore

The Vietnamese Embassy and Community Liaison Committee of overseas Vietnamese in Singapore organized an event to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Dog for Vietnamese staff and students living, working and studying in Singapore.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Nguyen Tien Minh reviewed the outstanding events in Vietnam in 2017 and great activities in the bilateral relationship between the two countries, especially high-ranking visits of the leaders to further promote the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership.

The ambassador stressed that the event has become an integral activity in order to cohere overseas Vietnamese, contributing to preserving the national cultural identity. Moreover, this was also an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese to exchange and support each other in life and work in the local country.

He believed that the overseas Vietnamese community in Singapore will continue to effectively contribute to the development of the country and take the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership into practice in the coming time.

On this occasion, Mr. Minh wished all guests and overseas Vietnamese a healthy, happy and successful New Year, building the overseas Vietnamese community in Singapore to be stronger, and contributing to better confirming the position and wisdom of the Vietnamese people in Singapore and among international friends.

At the event, the participants enjoyed songs about the homeland and spring, and traditional dishes such as “Chung” cake, pork-pie, spring rolls, especially noodle soup, which was appreciated by guests./.
