Not only offering support for paperwork and legal procedures, Vietnam’s Honorary Consul in Lebanon Chady Joseph Issa has also found many job opportunities for Vietnamese workers.

"The Mohamad office, which is also the office of Vietnam’s Consulate in Beirut, Lebanon, is responsible for helping to solve problems that Vietnamese workers have, although the number of Vietnamese workers there are not many,” said Mr. Chady Joseph Issa.

“We help them work stably or look for better new job opportunities in Lebanon, because the Vietnamese Embassy is not located here," he said.

"We also assisted a number of Vietnamese citizens evacuating from Syria to Lebanon to return to Vietnam safely when Syria was at war. We also coordinated with some other Southeast Asian Embassies here to help them evacuate," he emphasized.

According to him, Vietnamese workers there are very hardworking, active and intelligent, as well as strictly obeying Lebanon’s law and policy. Compared with many countries, the number of Vietnamese workers working there is very small.

In the future, he believes that the demand for Vietnamese worker recruitment of Lebanon will be very high, especially when the country rebuilds and stabilizes the Eastern and Western regions completely.

"In the coming time, Lebanon is going to develop the field of oil and gas, and the demand for jobs for Vietnamese workers is very high, especially those with experience in the field. In addition, Lebanon also has the need to recruit agricultural workers and Vietnamese people have much experience in the field," said Mr. Issa.

At present, there are a large number of Filipino, Indian, Sri Lankan and Pakistani workers in Lebanon, but there are only about 200 Vietnamese workers, who work in restaurants, office cleaning companies and as maids.

The Honorary Consul of Vietnam said that Vietnamese workers should learn foreign languages and speak English well, because English is commonly used in Lebanon.

In terms of culture and religion, Lebanese people are not so strict with workers because many of the foreign workers who work there are not Muslims. If Vietnamese workers know foreign languages, they will have many advantages in work./.
