The programs are very diversified with lion dance, art performance, gift presentation and folk games. The Mid-autumn festivals of Vietnamese people have spread and attracted the participation of other communities in localities.

The most important and significant part of the festivals is to present certificates of merit to students who achieve excellent results in study and high rankings in cultural, sports and art contests. This is also an occasion for good students to be honoured after a year of study and practice.

This year, the central committee of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic presented more than 900 certificates of merit and thousands of gifts and awards to children.

Mr. Hoang Dinh Thang, Chairman of the Union of Overseas Vietnamese Associations in Europe and Honorary Chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic, said that Vietnamese parents in the Czech Republic and Europe are hard-working and always create favourable conditions for their children to study.

He added that the festival is also an opportunity for Vietnamese children to improve their Vietnamese language skills, thus preserving the traditional customs of Vietnam.

The Vietnamese community is currently the third largest foreign organ in the Czech Republic, after those from Slovakia and Ukraine./.
