National Day marked in Cambodia

The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia organized a meeting and banquet to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the National Day (September 2nd) in Phnom Penh on August 30th, with the participation of Cambodian government officials, Vietnamese diplomats, residents and students in the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh highlighted Vietnam's outstanding achievements during the process of national construction and defence over the past 73 years, which were partly contributed by international friends, including those from Cambodia.

He hoped that Vietnam-Cambodia ties will further develop comprehensively, on par with the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation.

On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, Minister of Tourism Thong Khon congratulated Vietnam on its success and prosperity, and highly appreciated the close bilateral cooperation and solidarity. He extended sincere thanks from the Cambodian Government to Vietnam for its support.

He said that the Royal Government of Cambodia will further its close cooperation with Vietnam for bilateral interests, peace, stability and prosperity.

On the morning of August 30th, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace Samdech Chaufea Veang Kong Sam Ol conveyed the letter of congratulations of King Norodom Sihamoni to President Tran Dai Quang on Vietnam’s National Day and flowers from Empress Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and the King to the embassy.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese community across Cambodia is organizing various activities to mark the National Day./.
