No Vietnamese citizens injured in Bangkok bombing

The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand announced that there was no Vietnamese citizen injured in the bombing of Phra Mongkutklao Hospital on May 22nd.

"The Thai police and some Vietnamese in this area said that there is no Vietnamese citizen injured in the bombing. The Vietnamese Embassy will continue to maintain contact the Thai authorities to monitor the situation," said Mr. Nguyen Hai Ngoc, First Secretary in charge of citizen protection work of the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand.


Earlier, a bomb blast occurred at a waiting room of Phra Mongkutklao Hospital on Ratchawithi Road in Bangkok, injuring at least 24 people, most of them elderly.

Three victims have been provided intensive treatment and 12 of them are military personnel. The police said that traces of batteries and electric wires remained at the scene.

Phra Mongkutklao Hospital was an army hospital, but has now been converted to use for the poor.

The blast occurred on the 3rd anniversary of a military coup d'état overthrowing the government of former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Nearly a week ago, a small bomb exploded in front of the National Theatre in Bangkok, injuring two people.

Currently, Thai police haven’t identified any organization or individual behind the bombings./.
