OV in Ukraine support to build monument for soldiers sacrificed on Gac Ma island

In the framework of the activities to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the National War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27th), the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine on July 25th organized a ceremony to receive donations of the Vietnamese community in the country to support building of monument for soldiers sacrificed on Gac Ma island.

The participants were deeply moved when re-viewed glorious memories of the naval battle to defend the sovereignty over Gac Ma island, especially the image of 64 soldiers heroically sacrificed on March 14th, 1988 to defend the sacred sovereignty of the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Minh Tri emphasized that building of the monument for soldiers sacrificed on Gac Ma island in order to create a sacred space for their families, relatives and people around the country to visit and express their gratitude to the martyr heroes, who spared no blood for the cause of protecting the sacred sea and island sovereignty of the nation, while continuing to contribute to educating young generations the spirit of patriotism, fearless will of the nation of Vietnam in protecting independence and sovereignty of the country.
He also added that in spite of the difficult life at the present, the OV community in Ukraine has actively respond the appeal to donate to build the monument, practically contributing to the cause of defending the sovereignty over the sea and islands.
The deed shows that they always look toward the homeland, which add more strength to the soldiers and fishermen who are daily, hourly protecting every inch of land and sacred waters of the country.
At the ceremony, the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine raised VND164 million, which will be transferred to Vietnam’s authorities as soon as possible./.
