Overseas Vietnamese in Thailand organize requiem for martyrs

The overseas Vietnamese community celebrated a solemn requiem for martyrs sacrificed for the nation and dead compatriots in Khanh An Pagoda, Udon Thani city, Udon Thani province, northeastern Thailand on March 8th.

At the ceremony, the overseas Vietnamese community reviewed the glorious histories of the nation, martyrs sacrificed for the protection of the nation, especially 64 soldiers sacrificed on Vietnam’s Truong Sa island.

Mr. Tran Minh Duc, Head of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Udon Thani province, said that the sea and islands are an integral part of the people of Vietnam and they are protected by martyrs, whose enthusiasm and youth have long been in the deep sea, but their willpower has become an immortal monument of revolutionary heroism, continuing the tradition of indomitable struggle of the people of Vietnam.

The requiem is organized annually by the overseas Vietnamese community in Udon Thani in particular and in Thailand in general. This is a practical activity toward the homeland of the overseas Vietnamese community in Thailand.

Through the activity, the overseas Vietnamese can further understand the history and sovereignty of the sea and islands, as well as the cause of protection of the nation./.
