Overseas Vietnamese in Vladivostok welcome Lunar New Year of Rat

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Vladivostok, Russia, organized an event for the overseas Vietnamese community to welcome Lunar New Year Festival (Tet) of the Rat.

The program was attended by nearly 200 people, including representatives from the overseas Vietnamese associations in Primorye and Khabarovsk provinces, overseas Vietnamese people and students and officials and staff from the Consulate General of Vietnam and their families.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Consul General to Vladivostok Nguyen Hoang Viet reviewed important achievements in the process of construction and protection of the nation and new developments in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia in general and relations between Vietnam and the Far East in particular.

He also highlighted the outstanding events in 2019 in the Far East, such as: solemnly inaugurating of the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Vladivostok, welcoming the missile defense ship Quang Trung 016 to visit the Russian Federation and high-ranking delegation of Vietnam to attend the 5th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok and many activities held on the occasion of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Cross Year.

The Consul General wished the overseas Vietnamese a healthy, happy new year and always preserving national identity, towards the homeland and contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Russia.

On this occasion, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Vladivostok presented certificates of merit to the Executive Board of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Primorye and Khabarovsk provinces, and 26 individuals who have made active contributions to community building activities in 2019.

At the event, participants enjoyed special art items performed by overseas Vietnamese people and students in Vladivostok, and traditional dishes of Vietnam on Tet./.
