During the working visit, the provincial Department of Labor, War-Invalids and Social Affairs reported the situation and results of the implementation of the policy for overseas Vietnamese repatriating from Cambodia to the council.

As of June 30th, 2016, Binh Phuoc province had 345 households with 1,472 people, who are Vietnamese people returning from Cambodia. Most of them are free immigrants, without personal records, household registration or personal papers.

The reason for their return is that they are mostly poor, landless, homeless and earning their living in fisheries in Mekong river and the Tonle Sap. They returned to Vietnam and wish to have a long-term stable life and be naturalized to have household registration.

Localities in the province have created conditions for them to stabilize their lives. Specifically, the Hon Quan district People's Committee has approved a detailed planning project for residential area construction in hamlet 1, Minh Tam commune, which is expected to provide land for 18 households with an area of 5,008.67m2; the Bu Gia Map district People's Committee also plans to reserve land in Phu Nghia commune to help repatriated overseas Vietnamese. The households living on reservoirs will be provided with land for live and production, with an estimated land area of 400m2 for each household.

Binh Phuoc province is proposing to the government to approve the population planning in Vietnam - Cambodia border communes of Loc An and Loc Thanh communes of Loc Ninh district and Tan Tien commune of Bu Dop district./.
