President Ho Chi Minh’s stay in Russia’s Petrograd marked

A seminar was held in Saint Petersburg city, Russia, on March 16th to mark 95 years since Nguyen Ai Quoc, an alias of President Ho Chi Minh, set foot in Petrograd, the former name of Saint Petersburg, and an exhibition of images and documents about Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese leaders during their visits to the former Soviet Union.

The seminar attracted nearly 200 delegates who are Vietnamese and Russian scientists, scholars, activists, representatives of social organizations and students.

Nearly 20 speeches presented at the event reviewed the life, career and thought of President Ho Chi Minh in the cause of the national liberation struggle and national protection; and the role of Uncle Ho in Ho Chi Minh Communist Party, Youth Union construction, in establishment and strengthening of Vietnam - former Soviet Union ties and the close cooperation between the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Russian youth organizations.

At the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh stressed that this was the first of various events organized by the two countries in 2018, and the “Russian Year in Vietnam” and “Vietnamese Year in Russia” in 2019.

Ms. Yulia Ersova, Leader of the department for diplomatic relations and ethnic groups of the Saint Petersburg Youth Council, said that the seminar created new momentum for the Russia-Vietnam ties, therefore, it attracted the attention of the youth of the two countries. She also hoped that the seminar laid a foundation for following cooperation between the young people of the two countries in the fields of education and training, environment, security and policy cooperation.

Mr. Do Xuan Hoang, Head of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Russia, highly appreciated the seminar and added that through the event, Saint Petersburg city wants to teach the revolutionary tradition and the friendly relationship for young generations of the two countries.

The seminar also displayed objects on President Ho Chi Minh and other Vietnamese leaders./.
