President Ho Chi Minh statue inaugurated in Mexico’s Guadalajara city

The administration of Guadalajara city, Jalisco state, Mexico, recently organized a ceremony to inaugurate the statue of President Ho Chi Minh at the International Friendship Centre.

The statue shows the sentiment and admiration for Uncle Ho, hero of national liberation and world cultural celebrity, of the local administration, as well as helps tighten the friendship between the local people and the people of Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor of Guadalajara city Enrique Ibarra Pedroza emphasized that this is a great honour of the people and administration of the city.

For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Nguyen Hoai Duong thanked the local people for their sentiment for President Ho Chi Minh and the people of Vietnam, and affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh is a great revolutionary leader who dedicated his life to the struggle for independence and freedom, not only of Vietnam but also of all the oppressed nations in the world.

The ambassador recalled the admiration of former Mexican President Lázaro Cárdenas for President Ho Chi Minh and Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi, saying "These are two examples of struggle for the people in world history and they served the countries with all their strengths and virtues for the sole purpose of liberating the nations from the oppression of the colonial and empirial yokes."

The bronze statue of President Ho Chi Minh located in Guadalajara city is 60cm in height. It is created by Mexican sculptor Saul Hernández and is the fourth statue of Uncle Ho in Mexico./.
