Ready to take measures to protect Vietnamese citizens in fire in Thailand

Being asked for an update of the situation of Vietnamese people affected in a fire in Bangkok, Thailand, spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said about 14h30 of April 3rd, Ratchethewri apartment building on Soi Phetchaburi 18 in Bangkok, Thailand, suffered a fire that killed three people and injured about 60 others.

Right after the fire, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand has contacted and worked with local authorities to promptly verify and search for any Vietnamese citizens. As of noon of April 5th, it was confirmed that none of the three dead were Vietnamese, but that 13 Vietnamese people were injured and they were taken to four hospitals for treatment.

So far, some people have been discharged from hospitals, while others are being monitored and treated. Vietnamese students have been supported and provided temporary accommodation.

On April 3rd, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Nguyen Hai Bang and officials of the Embassy visited, encouraged and supported Vietnamese victims treated in the hospitals.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs instructed the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand to continue to monitor the incident, keep in touch with local authorities and hospitals to update information and be ready to take measures to protect Vietnamese citizens./.
