Requiem for Vietnamese martyrs held in Thailand

A great requiem for Vietnamese martyrs sacrificed for the nation was held in Khanh An pagoda in Udon Thani province, Northwest Thailand on March 18th.

The event was organized by the Vietnamese-Thai People Association in Thailand and Vietnamese-Thai People Association in Udon Thani province, Thai-Vietnamese business association in Thailand and Thai-Vietnamese business association in the province.

This is the third event which overseas Vietnamese in Thailand have organized to commemorate martyr heroes.

At the requiem, the overseas Vietnamese reviewed the glorious history of the nation, and heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the sea and islands, especially 64 soldiers sacrificed on Gac Ma island in March, 1988.

At the event, Mr. Luong Xuan Hoa, Deputy Head of the Vietnamese-Thai People Association in Thailand and Head of the Vietnamese-Thai People Association in Udon Thani province, said that over 4,000 historical years of construction and protection of the country with a lot of heart-breaks and losses, we understand the value of peace and want to preserve a sustainable and long-lasting peace. The event is an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese in Thailand to commemorate and show gratitude to martyr heroes who sacrificed for the nation, and it has become an annual traditional activity

This is also a practical activity toward the homeland in order to help overseas Vietnamese better understand the history, sovereignty over the sea and islands as well as the cause of defending the nation./.
