Speaking at the reviewing ceremony, Ms. Bui Thi Oanh, Deputy Head of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Kansai and Head of the Overseas Vietnamese branch in Kobe city, reported the process of establishment and development of the class; thanked and appreciated the cooperation and assistance of the Japanese authorities and Vietnam’s Consulate General in Osaka for the establishment and maintenance of these classes over the past time; as well as directions and measures to expand and develop more learners in the coming time.

At first, there were only over 10 students. Now, the Vietnamese class has about 30 students, including some Japanese students, and more than 20 students usually attended the weekly sessions of the class.

The students are now able to read, speak short and simple sentences, and remember and sing some Vietnamese songs for children through shorted-sessions, thus contributing to preserving the national language and cultural identity.

In addition to the Vietnamese class, the branch also opened a Japanese class for parents during the time they take their children to the Vietnamese class, to help them better integrate into the local life.

Since the branch has set up a Vietnamese class, Vietnam’s Consulate General in Osaka had been active in guiding, directing and meeting with the local authorities of Hyogo Prefecture, Kobe city and Nagata district, where the class is located, in order to encourage them to create the best conditions for the class.

On this occasion, Vietnam’s Consulate General in Osaka transferred more than 300 books in Vietnamese language of the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese to the class./.
